One building asks the same drives to do opposite jobs
A venetian blind, awning, or roller shutter motor has to move quietly, stop gently, and hold a slat angle precisely for daylight and comfort. A smoke ventilation actuator on the same building has to drive a heavy vent fully open on command as a life-safety function, under standards such as EN 12101-2, with SANS 10400-T governing the fire side locally. Facade and sun-shading drives face a third problem: heat. Inside a double-skin glass facade the cavity can reach 80 degrees C, and drives not rated for it simply overheat and fail.
The motor, the actuator, and the control panel have to be matched to the opening, the load, the duty cycle, and the building management system, not pulled off a shelf. DNH supplies Elero, UCS, Topp, and Parvalux drives into Southern Africa and works with installers and consultants to size them.

An automotive group's head office in Midrand uses the Elero LIMAline 150 drive system to control roughly 500 m² of vertical glass louvres on its courtyard facade. The louvres adjust continuously to the sunlight to hold light and warmth without glare or overheating, and a ventilation systems manufacturer specified the installation with a consulting engineering firm.

On one university facade refit, roughly 960 Elero SunTop M tubular drives replaced earlier motors that had overheated where the intermediate glass reached 80°C. A silent soft brake on the JA Soft venetian blind motor keeps slat noise down across a facade that can carry hundreds of these motors, and the faster running time on the SunTop M reduces heat build-up inside hot glass cavities.
